This module focuses on the interpretation of DNA profiles and the associated statistical analysis. In our experience, this is the most challenging aspect of DNA evidence for lawyers.
- will ease you in with some basic statistical concepts, and then
- will guide you through how we use genetic population data
- will introduce the likelihood ratio approach to DNA interpretation
As certified users of the probabilistic genotyping software STRmix™, we will provide you with an insight into how this software operates as well as the pros and cons of the system.
Finally, we will provide you with some real life case examples how DNA evidence can be misused in court. If you are a criminal lawyer handling DNA evidence, particularly in Australia, this module contains key information for you.
The approximate duration of the Course is 1 hour and you will have 30 days to complete it.
Once you have completed the four chapters, a certificate will be made available for you to download for your CPD records (by email and via your account).
